The Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology is an active group of eight physicians who have all received special training in the anesthetic care of children. We are a diverse group that is united by the common goals of providing care that is:

  • safe
  • state of the art
  • as non-threatening as possible.

At the UNC Hospitals, we have a very busy and growing Pediatric Anesthesia Service. We provide anesthetic care for routine as well as more complex surgical procedures, including open heart, neonatal surgical emergencies (premature and term newborns) and neurosurgical procedures. When necessary, we provide sedation and/or general anesthesia for procedures outside the operating room, including diagnostic studies such as MRI and CT Scan. We also provide a sedation clinic for children with cancer that must go through repeated painful procedures as part of their treatment protocols.
