Medical Support Assistant II Position #60392
The Department of Anesthesiology is recruiting for a Medical Support Assistant II to join our Pain Medicine team. The primary purpose of this position is to work alongside the Pain Medicine attending in the Pain Center in order to facilitate work flow throughout the day. The goal is to improve efficiency of time management and clinical care for the attending physician, allowing the attending to focus on physician work. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to filling out forms for insurance, completing lab/x-ray requisitions and posting slips, assisting with posting operating room cases, obtaining medical records, and preparation of letters to patients and other providers. The Assistant will also serve as liaison with other clinic staff, nurses, front desk staff, and Anesthesiology Department, physician, and hospital billing offices. The Assistant will also participate in patient education and communication, resident education, communication to other clinics, phoning in prescriptions, chaperoning during exams, and any other duties that will facilitate the clinic functions.
 
A working knowledge of clinic operations, medical terminology, and CPT coding is a plus. Demonstrated initiative and excellent communications skills are critical. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
 
Other skills required: Computer knowledge, medical records, medical knowledge (general), customer service.
