Continuing Medical Education (CME)

The Anesthesiology Department currently runs three Category I-accredited continuing medical education programs in conjunction with the University of North Carolina School of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education. Two of these programs are yearly events: "Carolina Refresher Lectures: Care of the Surgical Patient," offered since 1988, is a perioperatively-oriented program, while "Pain, Addiction, and the Law" (first conference in 2002) is a medicolegal look at the issues of chronic pain. The third program, "Anesthesiology Grand Rounds," is a weekly one-hour lecture series that has been ongoing for some years but became CME-accredited in July, 2001.
