COURSE INFORMATION
Overview
Care of the surgical patient now requires a team approach in the perioperative period to ensure good outcomes. The goals of this meeting are to highlight several key areas in caring for surgical patients including preoperative assessment, high-risk obstetrics, postoperative respiratory failure, pediatric care,
and perioperative complications. A dynamic and expert faculty has been assembled to present this educational program, which has been designed for physicians, anesthetists, physician assistants, and others who care for the surgical patient.
Educational Format
Course faculty will present information in a lecture format. Registrants will have ample time to interact with speakers in a one-on-one environment during the meeting. A complete syllabus of course-related materials including lecture notes will be provided to registrants upon check-in.
Educational Objectives
The information presented at this educational activity should improve your ability to:
- Mitigate risk factors and implement strategies to prevent PONV
- Assess new adjuncts to managing the airway
- Discuss the roles of general versus regional anesthesia in high-risk patients
- Assess advantages of ultrasound guided blocks
- Manage patients with pulmonary hypertension
- Utilize the different types of ventilators available in the OR and ICU
- Discuss perioperative implications of sleep apnea
- Manage postdural puncture headaches
