Course Information

Description
Infants and young children constitute a high risk population for undergoing anesthesia and surgery due to unique anatomic, physiologic, and developmental differences compared to older, larger patients.  A team approach to pediatric anesthesia requires that all team members function with up to date information on caring for this population.  This conference will provide the anesthesia team with current information on a variety of common pediatric anesthetic problems.

Learning Objectives for Participants
The information presented at this educational activity should improve your ability to: 

  • Discuss newly published data impacting the practice of pediatric anesthesia.

  • Identify infants and children at risk of suffering significant complications under anesthesia.

  • Review anestheticl techniques and practices designed to avoid complications in the high risk population.

Target Audience
Anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Residents in Anesthesiology, Student Nurse Anesthetists, Pediatricians and Pediatric Nurses.
