Application Information

Selection Process

Applicants must complete an Application for Appointment to the Housestaff of The University of North Carolina Hospitals, and provide a letter of interest, a personal statement, a copy of their curriculum  vitae, and a copy of their medical transcripts. Also requested are letters of recommendation (see below for specific subspecialty).  Requirements for further consideration of the application are that the applicant (1) holds an M.D. degree or equivalent, (2) completes anesthesiology training prior to onset of fellowship in an accredited residency program, and (3)  demonstrates evidence of interest and ability to carry out research, publication, clinical, and academic pursuits.

Pain Management Fellowship

Number of Positions for 2008-2009: 2       Duration of fellowship: 12 months

Deadline for submission: August 15, 2007.
 
Location:  The University of North Carolina Hospitals and Clinics Department of Anesthesiology
Chapel Hill, North Carolina 

Director: Sunil Dogra, M.B.B.S., F.F.A.R.C.S.I.

The letters of recommendation (total four) should include the following:

• One letter preferably from the Director of Pain Services
• One letter from your residency director at your training institution
• Two additional letters of reference.

The application package, personal statement, letters, etc., must be sent to Dr. Sunil Dogra at UNC-Anesthesiology Department, N2201 North Wing, UNC Hospitals, CB #7010, Chapel Hill, NC  27599-7010.

Selected candidates will interview with the department chair and the pain management faculty.
Final selection is made by the Department of Anesthesiology Pain Education Committee.

Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship

Number of Positions for 2008-2009: 2       Duration of fellowship: 12 months

Deadline for submission: September 15, 2007 (as long as positions remain available).

Location:  The University of North Carolina Hospitals and Clinics, Department of Anesthesiology
Chapel Hill, North Carolina 

Director:  Robert D. Valley, M.D.

Your application should be accompanied by the following:

• A copy of your Dean's letter.
• A copy of your Medical school transcript. 
• One letter of reference from the anesthesiology program director in which the applicant is training or has trained.
• A second letter of reference.
• A personal statement.

The application package, personal statement, letters, etc., must be sent to Dr. Robert Valley at UNC-Anesthesiology Department, N2201 North Wing, UNC Hospitals, CB #7010, Chapel Hill, NC  27599-7010.

Selected candidates will interview with the department chair and the pediatric anesthesia faculty.
