Clinical Experience

The primary goals of the fellowship program are to provide the following:

  • Immersion into the practice of Anesthesiology
  • Didactic sessions to assist you with grasping more than just the fundamentals of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology, Physiology and Critical Care Medicine
  • The opportunity to develop your own skills as a consultant, clinical supervisor and instructor
  • The opportunity to participate in research and the preparation of scientific material for presentation

The practice of anesthesiology demands a wide base of knowledge, technical facility, and a readiness to cooperate in teamwork. These challenges undoubtedly influenced your decision to become an anesthesiologist.  The University of North Carolina experience provides:

  • Approximately 24,000 anesthetics per year administered to inpatients and outpatients
